Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch

Technical Data Sheet: Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch Series

Product Name: Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch
Chemical Description: Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polysiloxane Dispersed in Thermoplastic Carrier Resin
Product Type: Silicone-Based Processing Aid and Surface Modifier Masterbatch

1. Product Overview

Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch is a series of pelletized formulations containing ultra-high molecular weight (UHMW) polysiloxane uniformly dispersed in a thermoplastic carrier resin. These masterbatches are specifically designed to overcome the handling and dispersion challenges associated with traditional liquid silicone additives, providing a convenient, easy-to-use solid format that can be directly blended with virgin polymer pellets during melt processing .

Compared to conventional lower molecular weight silicone oils or fluids, Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch delivers superior and more consistent benefits in both processing efficiency and final part surface quality. The UHMW siloxane polymer provides permanent, non-migratory performance, ensuring that surface properties such as slip, scratch resistance, and tactile feel remain stable over time without blooming or adversely affecting post-processing operations like printing or painting .

The Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch series is available with various carrier resin options (e.g., LDPE, HDPE, PP, POM, or universal carriers) and siloxane content levels, allowing formulators to select the optimal grade for compatibility with their base polymer system and specific application requirements .

2. Typical Physical & Chemical Properties

The following specifications represent the general physical properties of the Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch series. Actual values may vary depending on the specific carrier resin and siloxane content selected.

  • Appearance: White to off-white cylindrical pellets (Visual)

  • Siloxane Content: Customizable; typical grades range from 30% to 70% active siloxane content

  • Carrier Resin: LDPE, HDPE, PP, POM, or other specified thermoplastic compatible with target application

  • Melt Flow Index: Varies based on carrier resin grade; designed to match target base polymer processing window

  • Bulk Density: Approx. 0.50 – 0.65 g/cm³

  • Moisture Content: ≤ 0.5% (as packaged)

  • Volatile Content: Negligible; non-migratory in finished articles

Disclaimer: Typical values are representative of average production lots and should not be interpreted as guaranteed batch-specific specifications. Minor variations are expected due to normal manufacturing tolerances.

3. Standard Specifications by Product Grade

Please refer to the specific Antmee® product code for detailed Certificate of Analysis (CoA), including precise siloxane content, carrier resin type, and melt flow index.

Antmee® MB-30 Series (Siloxane Content: 30%)
These masterbatches contain 30% UHMW siloxane polymer dispersed in a compatible carrier resin. They are designed for applications requiring moderate silicone loading with excellent dispersion characteristics. The MB-30 series is particularly suited for use in engineering thermoplastics such as POM, where lower addition levels are preferred to maintain mechanical properties while achieving improved mold release and reduced friction .

Antmee® MB-50 Series (Siloxane Content: 50%)
The industry standard workhorse grade, featuring 50% UHMW siloxane content. Antmee® MB-50 series provides an optimal balance between silicone performance and cost-effectiveness. Available in LDPE, HDPE, and PP carriers, this series is widely used in polyolefin applications including HDPE pipe and conduit, BOPP and multilayer packaging films, and automotive interior components. It delivers excellent slip properties, scratch resistance, and improved processing throughput .

Antmee® MB-60 to MB-70 Series (Siloxane Content: 60% – 70%)
High-concentration masterbatches designed for maximum efficiency in demanding applications. These grades offer the highest siloxane loading per unit weight, reducing storage, handling, and transportation costs. Antmee® MB-60 and MB-70 are recommended for applications requiring robust, long-lasting surface modification such as high-performance wire and cable compounds, filler masterbatches, and engineering plastic formulations where minimizing carrier resin dilution is critical .

4. Primary Applications

  • Processing Aid and Internal Lubricant: At low addition levels (0.2-1.0%), Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch improves melt flowability, reduces extruder torque and energy consumption, enhances mold filling, and facilitates mold release. It also helps reduce die drool and melt fracture, resulting in higher throughput and lower defect rates .

  • Surface Modification and Slip Agent: At higher addition levels (2-5%), it significantly reduces the coefficient of friction (CoF) of molded or extruded parts, imparting a smooth, silky, non-sticky tactile feel. This is particularly beneficial for consumer goods, packaging films, and automotive interior components requiring premium haptics and mar/scratch resistance .

  • Scratch and Abrasion Resistance: Provides durable, non-migratory scratch resistance for automotive interior parts including door panels, instrument panels, and center consoles. Unlike organic amide-based slip additives, the UHMW siloxane does not migrate to the surface over time, eliminating issues with fogging, stickiness, or printability problems .

  • Wire and Cable Compounds: Improves processing of halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR/LSZH) and cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable compounds by enhancing filler dispersion, reducing die buildup, and improving surface smoothness. It also contributes to improved flame retardant synergism by slightly increasing limiting oxygen index (LOI) and reducing heat release rates .

  • Filler and Color Masterbatch Dispersion: Acts as a dispersing aid in highly filled compounds and masterbatches, improving the wetting and uniform distribution of fillers, pigments, and other additives within the polymer matrix .

5. Usage Guidelines and Recommended Dosage

  • Addition Method: Antmee® Siloxane Masterbatch should be physically pre-blended with virgin polymer pellets prior to introduction to the processing equipment. It can be processed using conventional melt blending methods including single/twin-screw extrusion and injection molding .

  • Recommended Dosage: For improved processing and flowability (mold release, reduced torque, faster throughput): 0.2% to 1.0% by weight. For enhanced surface properties (slip, lower CoF, scratch/mar resistance): 2.0% to 5.0% by weight. Higher dosages up to 10% may be used for specialty applications requiring maximum surface modification .

  • Compatibility: Masterbatches should be selected with a carrier resin compatible with the target base polymer to ensure optimal dispersion and performance. Universal or multi-compatible grades are available for alloy and blend systems .

6. Packaging and Storage Information

  • Packaging Options: Available in 20 kg or 25 kg multi-wall kraft paper bags with inner moisture barrier, or 500 kg supersacks for high-volume users. Custom packaging available upon request .

  • Shelf Life: 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored in the original, unopened container under recommended conditions .

  • Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and sources of heat or ignition. Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use to prevent moisture absorption and contamination. Recommended storage temperature: 5°C to 35°C. Product should be dried before processing if exposed to humid conditions, following standard procedures for the respective carrier resin .
