Antmee® Silicone Oil - Polydimethydisiloxane
Technical Data Sheet: Antmee® Silicone Oil – Polydimethylsiloxane
Product Name: Antmee® Silicone Oil
Chemical Description: Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) / Trimethylsiloxy Terminated Linear Silicone Fluid
CAS Number: 63148-62-9
1. Product Overview
Antmee® Silicone Oil is a series of clear, odorless, and non-reactive linear polydimethylsiloxane fluids. These fluids are characterized by their excellent thermal stability, low surface tension, and high compressibility. Due to the chemical inertness and wide service temperature range, Antmee® Silicone Oil serves as a fundamental base fluid for lubricants, release agents, heat transfer media, and personal care formulations. The series spans a wide viscosity range from highly volatile low centistoke fluids to thick, durable lubricating oils.
2. Typical Physical & Chemical Properties
The following specifications represent the general physical properties of the Antmee® Silicone Oil series. Variations exist depending on the specific viscosity grade selected.
Appearance: Clear, colorless, transparent liquid (Visual)
Viscosity Range (at 25°C): Available from 2 cSt up to 1,000 cSt (mm²/s) and above
Active Content: 100 %
Density (at 25°C): Ranges from 0.85 g/mL (Low Viscosity) to 0.98 g/mL (High Viscosity)
Refractive Index (at 25°C): Approx. 1.375 – 1.404
Volatile Content: Varies significantly; Low viscosity grades (2 cSt) are highly volatile, while grades above 50 cSt are essentially non-volatile.
Pour Point: Typically below -50°C, maintaining fluidity at extremely low temperatures.
Disclaimer: Typical values are representative of average production lots and should not be interpreted as guaranteed batch-specific specifications. Minor variations are expected due to normal manufacturing tolerances.
3. Standard Specifications by Viscosity Grade
Please refer to the specific Antmee® product code for detailed Certificate of Analysis (CoA) data.
Antmee® PDMS-2 (Viscosity 2 cSt)
This is an extremely low viscosity, highly volatile silicone fluid. It evaporates completely without leaving a residue, making it ideal for use as a precision cleaning solvent, a carrier fluid for active ingredients in personal care, or a thinning agent in coating formulations. Its low surface tension allows it to spread rapidly and wet surfaces effectively.
Antmee® PDMS-50 to PDMS-1000 (Viscosity Range: 50 cSt to 1,000 cSt)
This is the core workhorse range of the Antmee® Silicone Oil family. Fluids within this range are non-volatile and provide a consistent, smooth, and non-greasy lubricating film. Specific grades include but are not limited to 50 cSt, 100 cSt, 350 cSt, 500 cSt, and 1,000 cSt. The choice of viscosity directly correlates with the film thickness and lubricity required for the application. Higher viscosities (500-1000 cSt) offer greater resistance to wash-off and mechanical shear.
Antmee® PDMS-350 (Viscosity 350 cSt)
A globally recognized industry standard viscosity grade. Antmee® PDMS-350 is widely used as a benchmark fluid for defoaming agents, damping fluids in mechanical instruments, and as a reliable heat transfer medium in laboratory and industrial equipment. It offers an optimal balance between ease of pouring/handling and sufficient film strength for medium-load lubrication.
4. Primary Applications
Release Agents & Lubricants: Used as a mold release agent for rubber, plastics, and metal die casting due to its high thermal stability and non-stick properties. It also serves as a lubricant for plastic gears, bearings, and textile threads.
Personal Care: Acts as a conditioning agent, emollient, and skin protectant in creams, lotions, shampoos, and antiperspirants. The 2 cSt grade is frequently used in volatile carriers for dry-feel formulations.
Industrial Fluids: Functions as a heat transfer fluid in closed systems, a damping medium for torque converters and vibration absorbers, and a key ingredient in silicone-based defoamers and polishes.
Laboratory Use: Standard fluid for calibrating viscometers and as a constant temperature bath oil (especially the 350 cSt and 500 cSt grades).
5. Packaging and Storage Information
Packaging Options: Available in 20 kg pails, 200 kg steel drums, or 1000 kg IBC totes depending on viscosity and volume requirements.
Shelf Life: 60 months (5 years) from the date of manufacture when stored in the original, unopened container.
Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from strong oxidizing agents. Containers should be kept tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination. The product is not sensitive to freezing; simply allow the fluid to warm to room temperature before use if frozen.
